Our class read today with a group of 5th graders as part of our "Reading Partners Activity" in our school. Our students brought their "Reading Boxes" with all of their books from this and other years and they shared some of these books with students from 5th Grade. After reading some of the books they talked about their favourite hobbies, about their Christmas holidays and other things.
It´s amazing to see how well our 4th and 5th graders can read and how much fun it is for them to read with a new friend.
At school we are studying machines. We know that there are different types of tools and machines and also that some tools and machines can work with batteries or electricity.

STATIC AND CURRENT ELECTRICITY
We did some easy experiments in class to observe the static electricity. It was so much fun!

This unit was a great opportunity to learn about great inventors like Leonardo da Vinci, this is why some students did a wonderful project about this great inventor and presented some information to the class. Here you can see some pictures of this presentation.
As you know, we are studying important women in history at school this year. Some of these women are American and you will find information about these women in you class blog.
Halloween is here again and to celebrate this scary festivity we did some activities in our English class. We read some books about Halloween, we decorated our class with horrifying skulls, withches and ghosts, we wrote some Halloween cards and we wrote a text about a monster.
We like working in teams. We
worked in teams to do a science worksheet last week. We followed these steps:
- In
turns, first we read the sentence and decide the answer.
- Then, our partners say
if they agree or not with us. If everybody agrees, we all write the answer; but
if we don't agree we need to decide altogether which answer is the correct one.
If we don't understand it, our partners can help us.
- Later,
when we finish the first exercise, we do the second exercise in the same way
and so on.
We like
this way of working because it’s motivating, we help each other and everybody participates!

Nos gusta trabajar en equipos. La semana pasada trabajamos en equipos para hacer una ficha de ciencias. Seguimos estos pasos: - En turnos, primero leemos la frase y decidimos la respuesta. - Después, nuestros compañeros dicen si están de acuerdo o no con nosotros. Si todos están de acuerdo, escribimos la respuesta; pero si no estamos de acuerdo tenemos que decidir todos juntos cuál es la respuesta correcta. Si no lo entendemos, nuestros compañeros nos pueden ayudar. - Luego, cuando acabamos el primer ejercicio, hacemos el segundo de la misma manera y continuamos. ¡Nos gusta esta manera de trabajar porque es motivadora, nos ayudamos los unos a los otros y todos participamos!

THANKSGIVING DAY
People from the United States celebrate Thanksgiving day on the 4th Thursday of November. They commemorate when the first Europeans arrived to America and met the Indians who lived there. These shared food and ideas and they learned things from each other.
Today, families and friends meet for dinner on this very special day. They eat turkey, corn, vegetables and many other things.

VISITA DE FERNANDO LALANA
El pasado día 6 de junio nos visitó el autor Fernando Lalana, quien nos habló de su carrera como autor y escritor de muchos libros que hemos leído durante estos cursos en el colegio. Fue muy interesante conocerle y hacerle preguntas sobre algunos de sus libros e inclusod e su propia vida y aprendimos muchas cosas.
